UTudy (hereinafter referred to as "the App") values your personal information and is committed to protecting your privacy in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This Privacy Policy explains how the personal information you provide is collected, used, and protected.

The App collects the following personal information for account registration and service provision:

• Automatically Collected Information: Service usage records, access logs, device ID, advertising identifiers (ADID/IDFA)
• Location Information (with user consent)

The App collects personal information in the following ways:

• Information directly entered by users during account registration
• Automatically collected information during service usage
• Information collected through advertising networks like Google AdMob

3. Purpose of Collecting Personal Information

The collected personal information is used for the following purposes:

• Account Management: Membership registration, personal identification, and prevention of misuse
• Service Provision: YouTube lecture reminders, note saving, and community features
• Advertising: Personalized advertisements and performance analysis
• App Improvement: Statistics and analysis to improve user experience

4. Retention and Use Period

The App retains personal information for the necessary period as stated when collected and destroys it without delay afterward. However, some information may be retained as required by applicable laws.

• Upon account deletion: Immediately deleted
• When required by law: Retained for the period specified by the law

5. Sharing and Disclosure of Personal Information

The App does not provide or share your personal information with third parties. Exceptions include:

• When prior consent is obtained from the user
• When required by law
• When necessary for advertising through platforms like Google AdMob

5-1. Outsourced Processing of Personal Information

The App outsources certain personal information processing tasks to a service provider for stable service operation.

• Scope of Outsourced Work: User authentication, database storage, file storage
• Data Storage and Processing Location: Republic of Korea (Seoul Region)

The App supervises and manages the service provider to ensure that personal information is handled securely in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

5-2. AI Features and Third-Party AI Processing

• The App performs AI processing only when you explicitly run an AI feature.
• Purpose: summarizing YouTube video captions, summarizing note contents, and structuring recipes (ingredients and directions).
• Data sent: caption text of the video you selected, text of the note you asked to summarize, text read on your device from a photo you asked to organize as a recipe, and technical logs required to process the request (timestamp, language, model identifier).
• Processing path: App → our server (Supabase Edge Functions) → third-party AI provider.
• Third-party AI provider: Google LLC (Gemini API) · Country: United States.
• When it is sent: when you tap the summarize button or the organize-as-recipe button on the note screen.
• Not sent: local data such as notes, ink strokes, images and audio that you have not submitted to an AI feature is never sent to the third-party AI provider. Handwriting and recordings are not subject to AI processing. Photo files themselves are never sent; only the text recognized on your device is sent, and only when you explicitly request the recipe feature.
• Retention and logs: generated summaries are stored in our database so they can be reused on a repeat request. Request data may be retained in the provider's service logs for security, abuse prevention and operational purposes under their terms (Google Privacy Policy).
• Sensitive data: we recommend not submitting medical, financial, identification or other people's personal information to AI summarization.
• Your rights: you can view and delete summaries and delete your account in the App. For questions, contact [email protected].

5-3. Usage Statistics

• The App collects usage statistics to improve its features.
• Collected: a random install identifier generated by the App at install time, a session identifier, screen navigation and feature-use timestamps, app version, OS type and language setting.
• Advertising identifiers (ADID/IDFA) are not used for these statistics. The install identifier is removed when you uninstall the App.
• Text you write or select — note contents, search terms, file names, video titles — is not included.
• Retention: 180 days, after which the data is deleted automatically.
• Opt out: turn off Settings > App > Send usage statistics in the App to stop collection and transmission immediately. All App features remain available if you opt out.

6. Protection of Personal Information

The App takes the following measures to protect your personal information:

• Encrypting and securely managing personal information
• Operating security systems to prevent hacking and external breaches
• Minimizing access to personal information

7. User Rights

Users have the right to view, modify, and delete their personal information at any time. The App will take prompt action upon such requests. Users also have the right to withdraw their consent to the processing of personal information.

8. Use of Cookies and Advertising Identifiers

The App uses cookies and advertising identifiers (ADID/IDFA) to provide personalized services. Users can disable these features in their device settings.

• iOS: Settings > Privacy > Ads > Limit Ad Tracking

Our app utilizes the YouTube API services to provide users with video streaming services. This allows users to access a variety of YouTube content, and in doing so, our app complies with YouTube's Service Terms and Google's Privacy Policy.

By using our app to watch YouTube videos, users are automatically considered to have agreed to the YouTube Service Terms and Google Privacy Policy. Users can review these terms and policies by clicking on the provided links.

13. User Data Access and Deletion Rights

Users can visit the Google Security Settings page (https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions) at any time to manage or revoke access to their data. Our app supports users in controlling their information.
